  • Biography

Danny Gilmore, a retired California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief, has served his country and his community with pride. That service began with his enlistment into the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1969. After assignments at Camp Pendleton, El Toro, and Okinawa, he received his honorable discharge and embarked upon an exemplary 31 year career with the California Highway Patrol. After graduation from the CHP Academy in 1972, Danny’s first assignments were to the South Los Angeles and Oceanside CHP offices. Danny’s leadership skills resulted in promotions through the ranks of the CHP and to stations such as Sacramento, King City, and Hanford. Recognizing Danny’s marine training and excellent physical conditioning, the CHP Academy tapped Danny to lead the Patrol’s Physical Training Unit. Cited as one of the most demanding training programs in law enforcement, Danny drilled CHP Cadets daily for four years. In 1981, Danny was promoted to sergeant and assigned to King City. His subsequent promotion to Lieutenant saw him assigned as the Hanford Area Commander. Promoted to Captain, Danny was assigned as Commander of the Visalia Area in 1995. His final promotion, before retiring in 2003, was as Assistant Chief to the Central Division Headquarters, Fresno. In addition to his outstanding law enforcement credentials, Danny is a graduate of Palomar Community College as well as the Advanced, Supervisory and Management courses of the Police Officers Standard Training program. Danny also taught weaponless defense courses at West Hills Community College in Lemoore. Active with his fellow law enforcement colleagues, Danny held membership with the California Peace Officers Association, the Tulare County Chiefs Association and is a lifetime member of the California Highway Patrolman’s Association. Danny married his lifelong sweetheart, Cindi, and together they raised two beautiful children, a son, Damon, and daughter, Deanna, who have now given them six beautiful grandchildren. Danny and Cindi have called Hanford home since 1985 and have been active members of the Calvary Christian Center. As an active leader of his faith community, Danny has been asked to share his testimony on numerous occasions and in many venues.
