SCHEDULE OF TOURS AND SERVICES
GUIDED TOURS
Free guided tours of the State Capitol are given seven days per week (except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day, when the Capitol is closed). Tours are approximately one hour in length. Tour size is limited, so tickets for public tours are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 30 minutes before each tour. Groups of 10 or more cannot be accommodated on these tours -- please see GROUP TOUR RESERVATIONS below. The Tour Office is located in room B-27 in the basement of the historic wing of the Capitol (near 11th and L Street entrance).

CAPITOL TOUR (Maximum 30 people). The evolution of the Capitol and the function of government are discussed while viewing three floors of the building, including the Senate and Assembly Chambers when possible. Capitol Tours are offered daily at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00.l
HISTORICAL TOUR (Maximum 10 people). Visitors enter the recreated executive offices as they were in the turn-of-the-century Capitol. Historic Tours are provided by State Capitol Museum Volunteers. Please call for availability.l
CAPITOL PARK TOUR. Explore the history and beauty of Capitol Park. Park Tours are offered at 10:30 most days from mid-June through Labor Day or by advance reservation for other times. Please call for availability.
GROUP TOUR RESERVATIONS
Advance arrangements are required to reserve guided tours for groups of 10 or more. Tour reservations are accepted beginning September 15 for the following calendar year. Please call (916) 324-0333 between 8:00 and 5:00 Monday through Friday for availability.
Self-guided tour brochures are available in English, Spanish, German, Japanese and French to assist visitors who are unable to take a guided tour.

A LEGACY RESTORED --covers 150 years of the Capitols history and is shown every 1/4 hour (10 minutes in length).l
FOR CALIFORNIA --follows the extensive interior restoration of the Capitol.l
TOO SPLENDID TO LOSE --provides an in-depth look at the structural restoration of the building.EXHIBITS

The basement Exhibit Room contains displays regarding the Capitols history.
lThe Library and Archives Exhibit Rooms on the first floor present temporary exhibits containing original materials on loan from the State Library and State Archives, California State Parks, museum and private collections..
lThe State Capitol Museum has a collection of historic flags carried by California units in the Civil War, Spanish American War, and World War I. Exhibit schedule varies to protect collection.
SPECIAL NEEDS
The tours are accessible for persons with disabilities. Individuals or groups requiring
a sign language tour should call TTY (916) 324-2092 for a reserved tour. Assistive Hearing
Devices are available for hearing impaired visitors. A wheelchair is available to checkout
on a first come
first serve basis.
