EMPLOYEE COMPLAINT PROCESS

 

 

The Assembly Sergeant-at-Arms Department accepts and investigates all complaints about its employees and service. Your comments can be an invaluable tool in helping us maintain the highest possible standards. Furthermore, a written description of our complaint process and the necessary forms are available to the public on this website pursuant to Penal Code Section 832.5a.

PROCEDURE

Any citizens desiring to submit a complaint are encouraged to do so but are not required to. There are three ways to obtain the Citizens Complaint Form (607 01/01) and submit it.

  • You may go in person to the Assembly Chief Sergeant-at-Arms office (State Capitol Building Room 3171, Sacramento, CA 95814) Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.


  • You may call (916) 319-2808 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM and have one faxed to you. The completed form may be faxed to the Chief Sergeants office at (916) 319-2812.


  • A Citizens Complaint Form can be downloaded here and brought in person to the Chief Sergeants office or mailed to:

    The Chief's Office shall contact the complainant and advise them that the complaint has been received, the status of the investigation and the estimated length of time to resolve the complaint.

    Upon completion of the investigation, the investigative report shall be forwarded to the Chief Sergeant-at-Arms for final review. The complainant will be informed when the matter has been concluded and appropriate action, if necessary, has been taken.
