Dignitary Protection

The Security Division provides extra security for Assembly Members, their family, and staff if specific threats are made against them. Protection may be extended to Member's residence, if necessary. Pursuant to penal code section 602.1 Security may remove, detain, and arrest groups or individuals being disruptive in Members' offices.

Utilizing state-of-the art computer equipment, information on potential suspects is accessed and processed. Files are maintained on organizations and individuals who make threats or inappropriate contact with Assembly members, their family, or staff.

Additionally, during visits by VIPs and dignitaries, The Security Division acts as a liaison between the Highway Patrol, the FBI, the U.S. Secret Service and other Law Enforcement Agencies. They also provide secure transportation for the VIPs and dignitaries.
