Essential Duties:
· Acts as the Member's representative by responding to a variety of constituent inquiries and problems, attending meetings of local government and private interest groups.

· Coordinates office procedures, routine correspondence, telephone inquiries, and special projects.
· Assists in the research, public discussion, and drafting of legislation and amendments.
· Complies with Assembly policies and rules as outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual.
· Does other related work as assigned.
Knowledge Of/Ability To:
· Principles, functions, practices, and operations of the California State Legislature.
· District and State issues, current events, and relevant legislation.
· Basic journalism and communication.
· Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with local governments, private interest groups, and other general public.
· Communicate clearly and concisely.
· Work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
· Work extended hours as necessary when legislative functions dictate.
· Provide accurate and complete information in response to constituent inquiries and problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Schedules appointments and events in the district with an understanding of the Member’s priorities.

· Answers phones and serves as a receptionist.

Salary: $82,860 - $100,728/yr. plus excellent benefits package including 2.5% @ 55 CalPERS retirement benefit in January 2009
The County of Yolo is seeking an experienced leader with a background in County programs and services for youth, children, adults and the aging to oversee its Child Welfare Services and Adult Services divisions in the Department of Employment and Social Services.
This is an at-will position and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team that includes the Department Director, Chief Assistant Director, three Assistant Directors and the Chief Financial Officer. Areas of responsibility for the position include family programs, child and adult protective services, independent living programs, foster care and daycare licensing, IHSS programs, long-term care, SSI advocacy, Veterans services, homeless coordination, Community Services Block Grants, and information and referral services.
The Assistant Director is responsible for a staff of 100, including two division managers and nine supervisors, and an annual operating budget of approximately $11 million.
Requires a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and four years related experience. The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work and direct experience in adult and child protective services.
